There are two classes about the hail warning sign which
can be demonsrated by Orange and Red.
Orange standard: there might be a hail in six hours
which may leads to a hailstrom.
Red standard: there can be a hail in two hours which may
leads to a severe hailstroms.
Hail disasters happen frequently in China, which bring huge
losses to agriculture, architecture, communication, electricity,
transportation and people's life and property every year.
From the evening of April 23, 2007 to the early morning of 24,
there were 8 counties (cities) in Guizhou Province, which suffered
a rare storm and hail attacks for more than 20 years. According to
preliminary statistics, the storm and hail had more than 600 000 people
affected and 2 people killed. Collapsed, destroying homes,
housings reached to nearly 4000 rooms, and broken trees were more than
20 000 trees. More than 20 poles was blown off or blow down, and more than
300 people were injured in the disaster, the direct economic loss was of
more than 30 000 000 Yuan.
In March 20, 2013, Dongguan city of Guangdong province suffered super tornado
hail disaster, killing 9 people, with 158 people injured. According to
the statistics, the direct economic loss was 168 230 000 Yuan, during which,
the direct economic loss of agriculture was 72 900 000 Yuan, and the industrial
and mining enterprises lost 115 880 000 Yuan. The total crops affected area
of the city reached to about 22 950 acres. Agricultural crops in nearly
3799 acres land had not a single grain reaped, and surrounding 49.5 acres
of arable land was destroyed. Among all the affected crops, Lizhi (Longyan)
was of 19 655 mu, 5 781 mu of vegetables, 872 mu of banana, and 963 mu of
other crops such as flowers and seedlings. As for animal husbandry,
the death toll was of 4320 poultries, and 28 livestock due to the disaster.
