The online map of the earthquake disasters distribution in Min County and Zhang County, Gansu Province in 2013 in China is sourced from the China Natural Disaster Atlas in 2013 and was published by China Map Publishing House in February 2015. The authors are the Office of the National Disaster Reduction Commission, the Disaster Relief Department of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, and the National Disaster Reduction Center of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The scale of this map is 1:6000000.

Overall situation of the disaster

On July 22nd at 7:45, a 6.6 magnitude earthquake occurred at the border of Min County and Zhang County in Dingxi City, Gansu Province, with a depth of 20 kilometers. The earthquake caused 1.769 million people to be affected, 95 people to die, and 397000 people to be urgently relocated and resettled in 37 counties (districts) in 6 cities (autonomous prefectures), including Dingxi, Longnan, and Linxia in Gansu; 157000 houses collapsed and 837000 were damaged to varying degrees; The direct economic loss was 24.42 billion yuan.

This earthquake disaster has the following characteristics:

1.The magnitude is relatively high and the impact range is wide.

2.Complex terrain and diverse secondary disasters.

3.The severely affected areas are rural areas with a large number of dirt fields and houses, resulting in heavy casualties and severe damage to houses.

4.Severe damage to rural roads and infrastructure.
