Abstract

On July 17, 2018, the 2019-2021 second seminar of the sub-platform construction programming of the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology under the Auspices of UNESCO (IKCEST) was held in Beijing.

The 2019-2021 second seminar of the sub-platform construction programming of the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology under the Auspices of UNESCO (IKCEST) was heldon July 17, 2018 in the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academic of Sciences (IGSNRR, CAS).

Professor Wang Juanle reported the overall progress of the task including the construction background, priority areas identification of international and domestic development needs, priority areas identification based on literature intelligence analysis, focused fields analysis of UNESCO, selection conditions and technical index of the potential new sub-platforms, etc. Associate Professor Librarian, Wang Shuqiang, made a thematic report from the perspective of research programs, data source and analysis methods, the development trends of global engineering discipline, the frontier research topics of global and Chinese engineering discipline, global patent technology distribution, scientific research strength and research themes of UNESCO and proposals for construction field and so on.

The expert team fully affirmed the research progress of the construction programming of the 2019-2021 sub-platform of IKCEST, and conducted extensive exchanges and in-depth discussions on the water related fields, ecological restoration, small island countries, Africa, gender equality, southern Europe and youth training, taking the mission and needs of IKCEST into account, enhancing the current research status of domestic institutions, etc. Song Dexiong, Executive deputy director of IKCEST made a brief summary for this workshop, 1.Reflecting Chinese advantages and characteristics; 2. Responding to the concerns of the headquarters of UNESCO; 3. Grasping global trends and promoting global sustainable development; 4. Highlighting key points and limited goals.
