Main tributaries of Liaohe River-Taizi River

Taizi River, which was called “Yan Water” before Han Dynasty, was called “Liang Water” in Liao, Jin Dynasties and was called "Daizi River" or "Taizi River" in Ming Dynasty. It was named "Taizi" because the prince of Yan during the Warring States Period hid himself by this river.

The Taizi River is one of the main rivers in the south of Liaoning Province , and the industrial and agriculture in the basin is relatively developed . There are big cities such as Benxi City , Anshan City and Liaoyang City . The upstream of Taizi River is divided into North and south two branches. North Branch is the longest, originated in Xinbin County of Pingding Mountain, flowing westward through Weiziyu, Erdaohezi villages. South branch originates Benxi, flowing westward through Jianchang, Nandianzi and Beidianzi Villages. The two branches’ conjunction is called the main stream of Taizi River.

Taizi River flows into Benxi County, Benxi City, Liaoyang City, the lighthouse County, Anshan city and Haicheng County, join with Hun River near Sancha River, with a length of 413 kilometers and a drainage area of 13 thousand and 900 square kilometers, within which the mountainous area accounted for 74%. There are many tributaries of Taizi River, such as Xi River, Lan River, Tang River, Beisha River, Liaohao River, Nansha River, Yunliang River, Yangliang River and Haicheng River, etc.
