The intensity of snow and ice disaster across southern China in 2008

Brief introduction

The reasons of forest damage caused by the ice-snow disaster can be divided into physical damage and physiological damage. Among the factors that affect the resistance of trees, the intensity and duration of weather disasters are the decisive reasons for forest damage. For a typical ice-snow disaster, when the weight of snow or ice falling on a tree exceeds the limit of the trees, it could cause bending or make the trees broken, which would have the permanent internal physiological damage to the trees.
