Introduction
The Roscoff Biological Station (SBR) was founded in 1872 as a center for research and higher education in Marine biology and ecology. It is jointly operated by the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Sorbonne University (Paris). The Roscoff Biological Station focuses on fundamental biology - the study of primitive evolutionary lineages - as well as Marine biodiversity and ecosystems. Research in these areas draws on the latest approaches in molecular and cell biology, particularly genomics and its derivatives, and combines them with environmental science, chemistry and mathematics. The goal of this research is to better understand the evolution of life, the function of ecosystems, and the adaptation of Marine organisms to global change.
