Introduction
The climate crisis is one of the biggest problems facing humanity and part of a complex challenge. It is necessary to avoid overuse of natural resources that are relevant to the whole world, such as the atmosphere, land and forests (the global Commons). At the same time, we must ensure an adequate supply of society's public resources, such as education, health and transport infrastructure. Both require foresight and an international perspective that governments and other social actors often lack. As a scientific think tank, MCC helps to close this gap. We explore solutions, advise policymakers, and promote open (deliberative) debate across society. Our priority is equitable access to natural and social public resources for today and future generations. The starting point is the perspective of "climate and economy". Explore two essentially different and to some extent contradictory aspects simultaneously. Economic growth has brought prosperity and lifted many people out of poverty, but it has also led to overuse of the global Commons and undersupply of social Commons. To resolve this conflict, it is essential to understand the economic drivers, the mechanisms of income and wealth distribution, and the political economy of countries and companies. We need policy choices that both stop global warming and promote prosperity and human well-being.
