The distribution of natural disasters in our country is very uneven and there are difference in the levels and patterns of natural disaster activities in each region. What’s more, the regional distribution of population and development of society and economy are also uneven extremely. Therefore, there are obvious regional differences in disaster risk.

So we need to give directions respectively according to the regional differences of disaster risk when we are deploying disaster reduction work. On the basis of studying the regional difference of disaster risk in China, we divided our country into seven regions: eastern coastal area, including Bohai rim, Yangtze River delta and Pearl River delta urban agglomeration; northern China area; southern China area; northeast area; north-south zone; northwest district and Tibetan areas.
