Minjiang

Minjiang River, Fujian Province, China's largest river which flows into the sea (East China Sea)independently. Originated in Jianning ,the junction of Jiangxi and Fujian. three major tributaries called Jianxi and Fu Tunxi and Shaxi converge Nanping City nearby, named Minjiang. Through the coastal mountains to Nantai Island,Fuzhou, divided into two tributaries of the north and South, and complexed to the Luoxing tower for one, folding northeast out of Langqi Island into the East China Sea. Taking Shaxi as the source, a total length of 562 km, the basin area of 60,992 square kilometers, accounting for half of the province of Fujian province nearly.

In addition to the three main tributaries of tributaries,there are also the downstream Youxi, Gutianxi, Zhang Zhangxi. The floods in Minjiang are serious, and the disaster mitigationthe after construction of Ansha Reservoir, outlet power station on the main stream. The water resources are abundant, built four power stations with a total installed capacity of 1.4 million kilowatts.

Minjiang River Basin is the Minyue tribe of people living, and the upper reaches of Sanming, Nanping is the Hakka ancestral home. Minyue people and Hakka people lying upon the river, creating a rich history and culture. Into the modern, Minjiang River has become an important machinery, commerce, tourism, hydropower developed areas in Fujian Province.
