Shanxi

In 2014, the disaster situation in Shanxi Province was lighter than that in recent years, mainly including low temperature freezing, drought and flood.

1.Low temperature freezing and flood caused serious loss of cash crops

In the first ten days of May, most areas of Shanxi Province experienced severe cooling and gale weather, the lowest temperature in Datong City generally dropped below 0 ℃ and the lowest temperature in Datong County reached -7.2 ℃. At that time, fruit trees were hanging fruits and corn seedlings were emerging, affected by low temperature freezing, the fruits of economic crops such as apricot, jujube, apple and walnut were frozen off, and corn and vegetable seedlings were frozen to death and frostbite in varying degrees, the direct economic loss was nearly 2 billion yuan, accounting for more than 96% of the annual low temperature freezing loss. In the middle and late September, concentrated continuous rainfall occurred in the central and southern regions with a long duration and high rainfall intensity, at that time, it was in the critical period of jujube fruit cracking growth, the excessive absorption of water in the pulp led to rapid expansion, resulting in serious loss of red jujube in Shilou County, Linxian County, Liulin County and other places of Luliang City.

2.Superposition of drought and flood in main grain producing areas

During the flood season, the flood disaster led to crop lodging and flooding, mildew and rot, and a large number of houses were damaged, the number of emergency resettlement, collapsed and seriously damaged houses, and direct economic losses accounted for 93%, 92% and 80% of the total in Yuncheng, Linfen, Changzhi and Jincheng autumn grain production areas, respectively; During the booting stage of corn and other autumn crops, the yield dropped sharply, the affected area, no harvest area and direct economic loss of Yuncheng and other four cities accounted for 35.9%, 51.1% and 42.9% of the total losses respectively. The superposition of drought and flood in main grain producing areas has a certain impact on grain yield.

The proportion of the total number of disasters in the region (%):

The closer to the deep purple area, the higher the proportion of the total number of disasters in the area.

The closer to the light purple area, the lower the proportion of the total number of disasters in the area.

The orange sector in the figure shows: Drought disaster.

The blue sector in the figure shows: Floods and geological disasters.

The brown sector in the figure shows: Wind and hail disaster.

The green sector in the figure shows: Typhoon disaster.

The pink sector in the figure shows: Earthquake disaster.
