Guizhou Province

In 2014, the disaster situation in Guizhou Province was the same as that in recent years, with flood disaster as the main disaster, and the emergency resettlement population was the highest in recent years.

1.The rainfall is concentrated and intensive, and flood disasters occur frequently

From early May to mid-August, the province's average precipitation was 819.8 mm, which was more than 20% more than the historical period, and was the fifth highest since 1961. The continuous heavy rainfall caused many rivers in the province to exceed the warning water level, and 12 counties flooded. Among them, the "5•25" Shiqian, Songtao, Yinjiang and "8•11" Xishui and Chishui floods affected the area. Large and heavy losses are rare in recent years. The disaster caused a large number of people to be transferred and resettled urgently, houses were collapsed and damaged, and infrastructure such as transportation, communications, water conservancy, and electricity were seriously damaged.

2.Frequent geological disasters and more deaths

There are 3270 potential geological hazard points in the whole province, and 442 geological disasters occurred in 2014. For example, on August 16, a landslide occurred in group 4, Xinglong Village, Tongmin Town, Xishui County, resulting in 7 deaths; on August 27, a landslide occurred in Yingping village, Daoping Town, Fuquan City, killing 23 people.
