The Republic of Turkey is a country straddling Europe and Asia, including the Asia Minor Peninsula (Anatolia Peninsula) in Western Asia and Eastern Thrace in the Balkan Peninsula of Southern Europe. It is bordered by the Black Sea to the north, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, Syria and Iraq to the southeast, the Aegean Sea to the west, Greece and Bulgaria, and Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran to the east. The coastline is 7,200 km long and the land border is 2,648 km long. Turkey's geographical location and geopolitical strategic importance are extremely important, and it is a crossroads connecting Europe and Asia. Syria is located in the western part of the Asian continent, on the eastern shore of the Mediterranean. It is bordered by Turkey to the north, Iraq to the southeast, Jordan to the south, Lebanon and Israel to the southwest, and Cyprus to the west. The coastline is 183 kilometers long and the land area is 185,180 square kilometers (including about 1,200 square kilometers of the Golan Heights occupied by Israel). This dataset provides digital elevation model data (DEM) data for Turkey and Syria, which is a purely single-term digital landform model, and other geomorphological features such as slope, aspect, and slope change rate can be derived from the DEM.
