In geometry, a triangular prism is a kind of cylinder with a triangular base. Regular triangular prism is a kind of semi regular polyhedron and uniform polyhedron. A triangular prism is a pentahedron and has a set of parallel planes, that is, two faces are parallel to each other, while the normals of the other three surfaces are in the same plane (not necessarily parallel faces). These three faces can be parallelograms. All cross sections parallel to the base are the same triangles.

Because a triangular prism can also be regarded as a trihedron, cutting off two vertices, it is also called a truncated trihedron. In addition, because the regular triangular prism has symmetry and is composed of two regular polygons, some people call it a semi regular pentahedron.
