Calculate the total capacity according to the series capacity

Calculate the optional capacitor based on the required capacity

  1. Total power = the amount of power in each series capacitor, ie \(QT=Q1=Q2=Q3.... \)

  2. Total voltage = voltage of each series capacitor and, ie \(E=V1+V2+V3....\)

  3. Reciprocal of total capacitance = reciprocal sum of each series capacitance, ie \(1 / CT = 1 / C1 + 1 / C2 +.........\)

  4. Total energy = energy of each series capacitor, ie \(WT=W1+W2+W3....\)

Pressure calculation formula:

Total voltage: U

\(U1=C2*U/(C1+C2)\)

\(U2=C1*U/(C1+C2)\)

For example, C1 is 10UF and C2 is 22UF. The above formula shows that the voltage across C1 is 15.62V, and the voltage across C2 is 34.74V. When the capacitance is connected in series, the voltage and capacitance are inversely proportional.

Practical work can cause one of the capacitors to breakdown due to various reasons, then the total voltage will be added to the other capacitor, and it is not very reliable. Therefore, it is necessary to treat the high voltage capacitors in series.

For circuits with higher voltages, the series connection of capacitors is not ideal for "automatic" distribution withstand voltage. It is necessary to separately add voltage divider resistors of several hundred KΩ or more.
