Gale warning signal

The warning signal of gale (besides typhoon) is divided into four levels: blue, yellow, orange and red respectively.

Gale blue warning signal

Icon:

Criteria: Might being affected by gale, the average wind force could reach level 6 or above, or the gust force could reach level 7 or above within 24 hours; or it has been affected by gale with an average of level 6 to 7, or gusts of level7 to 8 and may continue.

Defense guidelines:

1.The government and relevant departments shall do a good job in gale prevention according to their duties;

2.Close the doors and Windows, reinforce the structures that are vulnerable to the wind, such as frames, scaffolding, billboards, etc.. Properly settle outdoor objects that are easily affected by the wind, and cover the building materials;

3.Take positive measures to deal with the operations in relevant waters and vessels passing by, such as returning to port for shelter or taking detour;

4.Pedestrians should try to ride bicycles as little as possible, and do not linger under billboards, temporary structures and other things when windy;

5.Relevant departments and units shall pay attention to fire prevention of the forest and grassland.

Gale yellow warning signal

Icon:

Criteria: Might being affected by gale, the average wind force could reach level 8 or above, or the gust force could reach level 9 or above within 12 hours; or it has been affected by gale with an average of level 8 to 9, or gusts of 9 to 10 and may continue.

Defense guidelines:

1.The government and relevant departments shall do a good job in gale prevention according to their duties;

2.Stop dangerous outdoor activities such as operations at high altitude, and transfer people and residents in dangerous areas to shelters as far as possible;

3.Take positive measures to operations in relevant waters and vessels passing by, such as strengthen port facilities to prevent anchor, stranding and collision of vessels;

4.Cut off the outdoor dangerous power supply, properly settle outdoor objects which are easily affected by the wind, and cover construction materials;

5.Units such as airports and expressways should take measures to ensure traffic safety, and relevant departments and units should pay attention to fire prevention of the forest and grassland.

Gale orange warning signal

Icon:

Criteria: Might being affected by gale, the average wind force could reach level 10 or above, or the gust force could reach level 11 or above within six hours; or it has been affected by gale with an average of level 10 to 11, or gusts of level 11 to 12 and may continue.

Defense guidelines:

1.The government and relevant departments shall do a good job in gale response according to their duties;

2.Schools and units in houses vulnerable to winds shall suspend classes and stop business operations, and personnel shall go out less.

3.Operations in relevant waters and vessels passing by shall return to port to take shelter from the wind. Strengthen port facilities and prevent vessels from anchor, stranding and collision;

4.Cut off the outdoor dangerous power supply, properly settle outdoor objects which are easily affected by the wind, and cover construction materials;

5.Units such as airports, railway, expressways and water transportation department should take measures to ensure traffic safety, and relevant departments and units should pay attention to fire prevention of the forest and grassland.

Gale red warning signal

Icon:

Criteria: Might being affected by gale, the average wind force could reach level 12 or above, or the gust force could reach level 13 or above within six hours; or it has been affected by gale with an average of level 12, or gusts of level 13 and may continue.

Defense guidelines:

1.The government and relevant departments shall do a good job in gale response and rescue according to their duties;

2.Personnel should stay as far as possible in a safe place against wind and do not go out at will;

3.Vessels returning to port for sheltering from the wind should take positive measures according to the circumstances and properly arrange their personnel to stay or be transferred to the safe area;

4.Cut off the outdoor dangerous power supply, properly settle outdoor objects which are easily affected by the wind, and cover construction materials;

5.Units such as airports, railway, expressways and water transportation should take measures to ensure traffic safety, and relevant departments and units should pay attention to fire prevention of the forest and grassland.
