Plague of locusts

locusts, commonly known as grasshoppers, belong to the genus Insecta and Orthoptera. There are many types of cockroaches, and there are 9 families, 2261 genus, and more than 10,000 species reported in the world. There are more than 300 kinds of damages that can cause harm to agriculture, and there are more than 60 species that cause harm to agriculture, especially the East Asian migratory locust, the Chinese rice blast, the Asian locust, the Tibetan locust, the desert locust, etc., mainly feeding on reeds and wheat. The leaves and ears of gramineous plants such as sorghum, corn and rice have caused huge losses to agricultural production in China. Because of the violent, migratory and devastating nature of disaster relief, it has been known as the three major natural disasters in China in the past thousand years of history.

Basic types and hazards

Disaster relief is the most serious violent biological disaster. Humans have long noted that severe disasters are often associated with severe droughts. In ancient Chinese books, there are records of "drought and suffocating". In recent years, several major disasters in Africa have also been linked to the severe drought in the region. Among them, the most serious hazard and the highest rate of disasters are the locusts, commonly known as "grasshoppers." The destruction of agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry is devastating.

There are a large number of locusts, and they are tenacious and can live in various places. It is distributed in tropical, temperate grassland and desert areas all over the world, and is most distributed in mountainous areas, forests, low-lying areas, semi-arid areas and grasslands. It mainly includes rice blast, East Asian locust, red scorpion, Taiwan cockroach, rice blast, and rice blast in Taiwan.

Rice blast is a very common aphid between flat and low altitude areas (below 800 m). Adults are almost everywhere except winter. It mainly feeds on the leaves of Gramineae plants, and is a major pest of rice in the early stage: East Asian migratory locusts grow under natural temperature conditions, with a wide range of feeding and strong adaptability. In the field, affected by environmental conditions, it often forms two types of gregarious and diaspora. In the case of a dry year, it is conducive to the fertility of East Asian locusts, and the area of Yiyi is increased, which is easy to cause disasters. It is mainly distributed in the provinces of North China and East China, which is the most harmful to China.
