The typhoons landed in Zhejiang Province, China

The strong typhoon landed in the Xiangshan County in Zhejiang Province in August, 1956, which the maximum center wind was over 12 degree. More than 2.9 million hectares area was damaged, more than 2.08 million houses collapsed, 5256 people dead and more than 10000 people injured due to the typhoon. And then, in the same year, the typhoon assaulted the east region of China four times in the duration of the late August to September. A storm came with the typhoon and gradually strengthens from south to north, the river in Jiangxi, Shandong, Hebei, Jilin, Heilongjing, the five provinces, overflowed, more than 65,760,000 hectares area was damaged, more than 3.16 million houses collapsed, 1780 people dead and more than 27,100,000 people injured.

In 2006, the typhoon “Sangmei” landed on Zhejiang. “Sangmei” with a particularly low central pressure and extremely high wind speed, developed rapidly, moved quickly and brought a concentrated rainfall. It has been one of the deadliest storms in nearly a decade in China. The typhoon affected 6,656,500 people and caused 483 people dead in Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi and Hubei four provinces; the area of 290,000 hectares farmland was affected and 36,000 hectares farmland had nothing to acquire; about 136,300 houses collapsed and the direct economy loss up to 1,965, 800.
