Map description

China's drought and waterlogging disasters in the past 500 years, the waterlogging of the Yangtze River Basin, and the online map of drought in North China, Southern China.

Flood usually refers to the flooding of farmland, urban and rural areasor low-lying land due to the flood of rivers. Floods include two major types of floods and disasters. Flood refers to the flood of rivers, flooding farmland and urban and rural areas, and endangering people's lives and property. Disaster relief refers to the accumulation of water and runoff caused by long-term rain or heavy rain that inundates low-lying land. Heavy rains and floods in China occur mostly in the south of the Yangtze River and the coastal areas of South China, with the most from the north of the Yangtze River to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. The northern part of China has a dry climate with less rain, but under the influence of abnormal weather, floods often occur. Long-term, wide-scale continuous rain or frequent heavy rains can cause floods. There are two main areas where heavy rains are concentrated in China: one is the Liaodong Peninsula, one Shandong Peninsula, and the southeast coast; the other is the Daxinganling, Taihang Mountain, and Wuyi Mountain. In addition, the southern foothills of the Yinshan, Qinling and Nanling mountains are also frequent areas of heavy rain. The floods in China mainly occurred in the plains of the Pearl River, the Yangtze River, the Huaihe River, the Yellow River, the Haihe River, the Liaohe River and the Songhua River, and the Sichuan and Guanzhong Basins. The flooding disasters mainly occur in the plains and basins in the east, such as the Sanjiang Plain, Nenjiang Plain, Liaohe Plain, Hetao Plain, Guanzhong Plain, Yuzhong Plain, Huaibei Plain, Jianghan Plain, Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta.

Drought disaster: In the long period of time, due to the serious shortage of precipitation, the soil loses water due to evaporation, the river flow is reduced, and the normal crop growth and the severe weather phenomenon of human activities are destroyed. As a result, the crops and fruit trees are reduced. Disasters such as drinking water for people and animals and lack of industrial water. From a disciplinary point of view, drought can be divided into four categories: meteorological drought, agricultural drought, hydrological drought and socio-economic drought. Drought, especially the seasonal drought, will cause huge losses to the agriculture and animal husbandry. The distribution of drought in China has obvious regional characteristics. The severe arid regions are mainly distributed in the Huanghuai area, the southern part of Zhejiang and Jiangxi, the northern part of Guangdong and Guangxi, the Loess Plateau and the central Guizhou.
