The Disaster Risk Reduction knowledge service system of the International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology (IKCEST) is a knowledge service platform under the guidance of UNESCO DRR Section. It is hosted by the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The Jiuzhaigou earthquake occurred on 8 August 2017, in Zhangzha Town, Jiuzhaigou County, Ngawa Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China. Facing the urgent disaster relief requirement of Jiuzhaigou earthquake, an earthquake disaster risk reduction thematic knowledge service was launched immediately by the disaster risk reduction knowledge service system of IKCEST. The application applied a single page mode technology to make itself self-contained based on the DRR platform, and the application used smart WebGIS technology to display seismic related spatial information. Related data resources, disaster relief information and disaster risk reduction science popularization knowledge were integrated in the thematic knowledge service. The data, information and knowledge will be updated in recent weeks.

The thematic service website is: http://drr.ikcest.org/kwa/jiuzhaigou_en.html. Fig 1 shows its website interface.

This is the DRR platform for emergency response work for the first time. System leaders, technical developers and maintenance personnel have made much effort and gained a lot of work experience. We hope that these work will help the earthquake relief efforts in Jiuzhaigou,to mitigate the impact of natural disasters on human society.
