IKCEST and UNESCO held a skype meeting for Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service

The Skype meeting for Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service (DRR) was held on May 18, 2018. Mr. Soichiro Yasukawa, Programme Specialist and Coordinator for Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience, Section on Earth Sciences and Geo-hazards Risk Reduction, Natural Sciences Sector, UNESCO, Ms. Jutta May, Information & Knowledge Management Specialist (Independent Consultant), Ms. Fang Ying from Secretariat of International Knowledge Centre for Engineering Sciences and Technology under the Auspices of UNESCO (IKCEST), Prof. Wang Juanle, Executive director of Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service, and Cheng Kai, Wang Yujie, and Zhou Yezhi from DRR team joined the meeting. Mr. Soichiro Yasukawa presided over the meeting.

Prof. Wang Juanle gave a brief review of the summary of the First International Workshop for Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service, and focused on the progress of DRR. He also introduced the preparations for the Second International Workshop for Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service. The participants exchanged and discussed the details of the Second International Workshop to be held in this year about international training, the promotion of metadata standards, the application of big data and application case sharing etc. Mr. Soichiro Yasukawa said that on behalf of UNESCO, he would support and participate in this workshop as always, and he appreciated IKCEST team for the efforts and contributions to the work of DRR.
