A heavy rainstorm in most parts of the northeast has been concentrated in three days , the mean contour of the mean rainstorm at the maximum three days of the year can fully reflect the distribution of the rainstorm . The mean maximum three-day rainfall in the whole district is between 50 and 220 mm . The high and low value distribution of contour line is closely related to the whole district geographic location, topography condition and source direction of water vapor . The district has seven high value areas :

The first high value area is downstream of the Yalu river , Hunjiang river, Hunhe river, the Taizi river and lots of rivers in Liaodong peninsula . The area is adjacent to the yellow sea and has Mount Qian , Hadaling and Longgang mountains . It forms a bell mouth to the southwest. The winds from south and southwest are being driven by terrain and cause rainfall . It is the highest in this district , The mean is between 120 and 220 mm . It is adjacent to the Bohai sea , And there are Nuru tiger mountain, Songling mountain and Yiwulu mountain in its own district. The airflow from southwest and south are prone to heavy rain in this area , the mean is between 100 and 160 mm for the second high value region . East of the Liaohe river are included the east Liaohe River, Zhaosutai River, Fanhe River, Chaihe River, Qinghe River and tributary river Huifa river, which is the third high value region . The eastern part of this district is the southwest extension of the Changbai mountains. In front of the mountain is Liaohe plain , it is easy to be affected by a variety of weather systems and cause torrential rain . The mean changes from 90 to 120 millimeters . The fourth high value area is located downstream of the Tumen river , its south is near the sea of Japan, the southwest is Changbai mountain, the west is Zhangguangcai ridge, and the north is Laoye ridge. Often in the area where typhoons pass north , the mean is between 80 and 120 millimeters . The fifth high value area is the upper and middle reaches of the Lalin river and upper reaches of Ashihe river on the south bank of the Songhua river, which is the west slope area of Zhangguangcai ridge . The mean is about 90 millimeters ; The sixth highest value area is the Hulan river, the Aron river, the Muda river and the upper reaches of Tangwang river on the north bank of Songhua river ,it belongs to the south slope of Lesser Khingan Mountains , the mean is between 80 and 100 millimeters . The seventh high value area is located on the southeast slope of Lesser Khingan Mountains . The 80 millimeters closed contour line crosses the right bank of the Nenjiang river tributary Huolin river , Taoer river , Chaor He ,Yalu river and Arun He river.

The west slope of Lesser Khingan Mountains is the lowest value area of the district , The mean is 50~60 mm;The middle and lower reaches of the Nenjiang river plain area , Xar Moron River plain area and Sanjiang plain area , the mean is around 70 mm, both are low value area.

The distribution of rainfall in the annual maximum three days of the year is similar to that area distribution of the mean of the annual maximum three-day rainfall . That means the area with the annual highest mean rainfall in three days , the annual maximum three-day rainfall is also large ; and so as the low value area . The annual maximum three-day rainfall in most areas of the region is between 200 and 400 mm , southern and western of Liaoning province are high value areas , the annual maximum three-day rainfall can reach 400~1000 mm , the maximum value is 1242mm which occurred in Sifang, Yixian county, Liaoning province (August 2nd to 4th in 1930) . According to investigation results , the lowest value is the Hulunbel grass area that west of Lesser Khingan Mountains , less than 100 mm.
