Jiamusi station is the control station in the downstream of Songhua River and 437 kilometers from Harbin. There are big tributaries such as Hukan River, Mudan River, Woken River and Tangwang River enter it, and the floods in Mudan River and Tangwang River are particularly large and frequent among these rivers. So the flood in Jiamusi station is not only affected by the flood from the main stream but also by the floods from Mudan River and Tangwang River.

There are serveal types of the Jiamusi's flood peak. The floods mainly come from the main stream of the Songhua River. For example, the quantity of flow at the flood peak in Harbin station took 79.9% in the quantity of Jiamusi station in 1957, and 96.3% in 1998. The proportion of the flood from the tributaries is relatively small.

But the proportion of floods from the tributaries can be bigger in some years. Sometimes the main sources of the quantity of flow at the peak came from Mudan River, such as 1956, 1960, 1964 and 1991. In these years, the quantity of flow at the flood peak in Changjiangtun station, Mudan River respectively took 22.0%, 33.2%, 54.3% and 60.3% in the quantity of Jiamusi station, far more than the area ratio. The flood mainly came from Tangwang River in 1961 and this year the proportion of peak discharge in Chenming station took 40.0% in the peak discharge in Jiamusi station.
