5158m Chinese Continental Scientific Drilling Project (CCSD) Drilling and Its Drilling Depth

Construction started on August 4, 2001, and the China Continental Scientific Drilling Project completed on April 18, 2005 is located in Maobei Village, Donghai County, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province.

Scientific drilling can be divided into ocean scientific drilling and Continental Scientific drilling. Less than 4000 meters is scientific shallow drilling, 4000-8000 meters is scientific deep drilling, and more than 8000 meters is scientific super deep drilling. Continental scientific drilling began in the 1970s. The former Soviet Union, Germany, the United States, Japan and other countries have successively carried out scientific drilling projects. Located in the world's largest Dabie-Sulu UHP metamorphic belt with global geoscientific significance, Donghai County is known as the research treasure of continental dynamics. It is the best place to study plate meeting distance from the boundary and has dual value of science and application.

Scientific drilling can achieve at least 10 goals: 1. Understanding the state, structure, structure and composition of deep crust and studying the evolution of lithosphere; 2. Identifying the nature of geophysical interface anomalies and improving the interpretation accuracy of geophysical data; 3. Searching for deep mineral resources; 4. Exploring and exploiting deep energy sources; 5. Earthquake and volcanic disaster prediction and monitoring; 6. Exploration of nuclear waste and other hazardous waste burial sites; 7. Understanding the nature and lower boundaries of the biosphere; 8. Studying the climate history of the Earth and global climate and environmental changes; 9. Studying meteorite shocks and biological extinction events; 10. Developing geological survey technology to improve human beings The ability to explore the deep mysteries of the earth.

International Stratigraphic (Geochronological) Table

After the discovery of the radioactive elements of ruthenium and radium in 1898, Curie and his wife established radiophysics, which provided a new reliable method for measuring the absolute age of rocks and fossils. In the 20th century, the absolute age of meteorites was accurately measured by the content of decay products of radioactive elements such as uranium-238, uranium-235 and potassium-40. The age of the earth is 4.56 billion years. Based on this method, geologists have formulated a well -ordered International Stratigraphic (Geological Age) table, according to which all fossils of paleontology can be found. The determination of the panoramic history of the evolution of the earth's organisms is basically completed by taking the table as a seat and determining the age of its formation. See page 28 of this atlas.

Isotope Geological Age

That is the absolute geological age. It clearly indicates that the number of years since the formation of rocks is determined according to the content of radioactive element decay products in rocks. Geological chronology is uninterrupted. Compiling the chronology represented by stratigraphic systems in different places in sequence will become a complete geological chronology.

Stratum

Also known as "rock strata". Refers to the general term for stratified and non-stratified rocks formed in the course of the earth's historical development. Layered sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks and volcanic rocks are dominant. The characteristics, compositions or properties of a stratum are identical and different from those of the collar stratum. It has the concept of the times, there are old and new, under normal circumstances, new and old.
