Typhoon early warning signals

There are four levels of typhoon early warning signals, in blue, yellow, orange and red.

Typhoon blue warning signal

Icon:

Criteria: typhoon that may be or may have been affected by tropical cyclones within 24 hours and its coastal or terrestrial average wind force reached six grade or above, or the gustiness reached eight grade or above, and may continue.

Defense guidelines:

1.The government and related departments shall prepare for typhoon according to their duties;

2.Stop outdoor collective activities and dangerous outdoor work such as high-altitude operations;

3.Take positive measures to deal with the operations in relevant waters and vessels passing by, such as returning to port for shelter or taking detour;

4.Strengthen doors and Windows, walls, scaffolding, billboards and other structures that are easily blown by the wind, and cut off the dangerous outdoor power supply.

Typhoon yellow warning signal

Icon:

Criteria: typhoon that may be or may have been affected by tropical cyclones within 24 hours and its coastal or terrestrial average wind force reached eight grade or above, or the gustiness reached ten grade or above, and may continue.

Defense guidelines:

1.The government and related departments shall prepare for typhoon emergency according to their duties;

2.Stop huge indoor and outdoor collective activities and dangerous outdoor works such as high-altitude operations;

3.Take positive measures to deal with the operations in relevant waters and vessels passing by, such as strengthening port facilities and preventing ships from anchor, stranding and collision;

4.Reinforce or remove structures that are easily blown by the wind. People do not go out at will and ensure the elderly and children stay in the most safe place at home. Personnel in dangerous buildings should be transferred in time.

Typhoon orange warning signal

Icon:

Criteria: typhoon that may be or may have been affected by tropical cyclones within 12 hours and its coastal or terrestrial average wind force reached ten grade or above, or the gustiness reached twelve grade or above, and may continue.

Defense guidelines:

1.The government and relevant departments shall do a good job in typhoon prevention and emergency response and rescue according to their duties;

2.Stop huge indoor and outdoor collective activities and suspend classes and business operations (except for special industries);

3.Operations in relevant waters and vessels passing by shall return to port to take shelter from the wind. Strengthen port facilities and prevent vessels from anchor, stranding and collision;

4.Reinforce or remove structures that are easily blown by the wind, and the personnel should stay in the place with wind protection and safety as far as possible. When the typhoon center passes, the wind will reduce or remain stationary for a period of time. Bear in mind that the strong wind will suddenly blow and people should remain in the safe place for shelter from the wind. Personnel in dangerous buildings should be transferred in time;

5.Relevant regions should pay attention to preventing mountain torrents and geological disasters that may be caused by heavy precipitation.

Typhoon red warning signal

Icon:

Criteria: typhoon that may be or may have been affected by tropical cyclones within six hours and its coastal or terrestrial average wind force was above 12 grade, or the gustiness was above fourteen grade, and may continue.

Defense guidelines:

1.The government and relevant departments shall do a good job in typhoon emergency response and rescue according to their duties;

2.Stop collective activities and suspend classes and business operations (except for special industries);

3.Vessels returning to port for sheltering from the wind should take positive measures according to the circumstances, and properly arrange personnel to stay or transfer to safe areas;

4.Reinforce or remove structures that are easily blown by the wind, and personnel should stay in the safe place against wind. When the typhoon center passes, the wind will decrease or remain stationary for a period of time. Bear in mind that the strong wind will suddenly blow and people should remain in the safe place of shelter from the wind. Personnel in dangerous buildings should be transferred in time;

5.Relevant regions should pay attention to preventing mountain torrents and geological disasters that may be caused by heavy precipitation.
