The drought disaster occurred in China between 1978 and 1983

It was very hot in the north of China from 1978 to 1983. In 1978, there was a large drought in the whole country, with 40 million hectares affected and a total disaster area of 17.3 million hectares; in 1979, there was also a large drought, with 2.46 million hectares affected; in 1980, there was a serious summer drought in the north, the northeast and parts of the northwest of our country, with 26.05 million hectares affected and a total disaster area of 12.48 million hectares; there was a drought in the downstream of the Yellow River in the summer of 1981 with an area of 6.4 million hectares being affected; next year, the north and the northeast of our country were lack of rain and water from spring to summer with 22 million hectares being affected. In 1983, the drought was mainly occurred in the north of China and around 9.33 million hectares being affected, this disaster was also a rare one after the establishment of the new country. Lacking of water which influenced the sustainable development of people’s normal life and state's economy has been a difficult problem in the northern land.
