The Songliao Basin is a large terrestrial sedimentary basin surrounded by the Greater Khingan, Lesser Khingan and Changbai mountains in northeast of China. It spans 260,000km2 across three provinces of Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang and four cities-Hulun Buer League, Xing'an League, Zenith (Tongliao City) and Chifeng City of Inner Mongolia, and it is crossed by the Songhua River and Liaohe River. A cold and humid forest, meadows, and grassland comprise its landscape.
In cooperation with the DRR commission departments of the Ministry of Songliao Committee, the work of disaster risk reduction on Songliao Basin are carried out, the related data and information of basic geographic and hydrologic and flood disaster have been collected in Jilin Province, Liaoning Province, Heilongjiang province and Mongolia autonomous region. The information and data of administrative division, landscape, soil, traffic road, river, lake, reservoir, basin range, flood, rainstorm and typhoon are applied in flood control knowledge service in Songliao Basin.
