University of Science & Technology China in 1965 after graduating from the Department of Geophysics, seismology and physics experiment of rock has been engaged in research work. 1966-1973 years of seismic observation and theoretical source physics research in the Xingtai earthquake. After 1974, to carry out the experimental study of rock under high temperature and high pressure. Since 90s, the leadership of the International Association of seismology and physics of the earth's interior (IASPEI) and the international society for Earthquake Engineering (IAEE) of a joint working group to seismology, engineering and economics combined with the global earthquake disaster prediction research. Has published hundreds of articles, monographs, translations of more than 10. Chen Yong served as the China Earthquake Administration Institute of Geophysics, China Earthquake Administration, deputy secretary and other staff. May 2004 served as Dean of the school of earth and Space Sciences University of Science & Technology China.

Since 1992 IASPEI earthquake prediction and earthquake disaster committee chairman, International Seismological Center (ISC) executive director. In 1993 Chinese elected academician of Academy of sciences. In 2000 was elected as the Third World Academy of sciences. In 1998 by the HLHL science and technology award. The current deputy director of China geophysical society, deputy director of the Seismological Society of China.

In 2016, a full-time professor in the school of Earth Sciences and engineering Nanjing University. At the same time is the national disaster prevention and mitigation committee experts.

Title
Chinese Academy of Sciences, geophysicist, chairman of China Geophysical Society, vice chairman of China Seismological Society
Work Experience
After graduating from university, he has been engaged in seismology and experimental rock physics research work. In 1966, he studied earthquakes and seismic physics in the Xingtai earthquake site. After 1974, he carried out high temperature and high pressure rock physical experiments. He developed a laser holography to measure rock deformation, and studied the effect of stress path on rock properties. He discovered that the thermal cracking of rock has been applied to the safety monitoring of nuclear power plants. Since the 1990s, he has been working on earthquake prediction and earthquake disaster research. He led a joint working group of the International Society for Seismology and Earth Society of Physics (IASPEI) and the International Society of Earthquake Engineering (IAEE) to combine seismology, engineering and economics to conduct global earthquake disaster prediction studies. He first edited the global earthquake risk map and the global earthquake disaster prediction map. The plan has been used by the United Nations and other agencies for disaster reduction planning. Chen Yong served as director of the Earthquake Administration of China Earthquake Bureau, deputy director of China Seismological Bureau. He also served as Dean of the School of Earth and Space Sciences of the University of Science and Technology of China in May 2004. He was Chairman of the IASPEI Earthquake Prediction and Earthquake Disaster Commission in 1992 and Executive Director of the International Earthquake Center (ISC). He is currently the chairman of the Chinese Geophysical Society, vice chairman of the China Seismological Society. He taught in full time at the College of Earth Sciences and Engineering, Nanjing University in 2016.
Achievement
He was named in 1986 by outstanding contributions to the young science, technology, management experts. He enjoyed special government allowances in 1991. He was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1993. He won the third prize of national scientific and technological progress in 1997. He received Ho Ho Ho Lee Technology Progress Award in 1998. He was elected to the Third World Academy of Sciences in 2000
