Chen Yong, Jiangsu Suqian people, a geophysicist, China academician of Academy of Sciences, the Third World Academy of sciences. Since 90s, the leadership of the International Association of seismology and physics of the earth's interior (IASPEI) and the international society for Earthquake Engineering (IAEE) of a joint working group to seismology, engineering and economics combined with the global earthquake disaster prediction research. Chen Yong served as the China Earthquake Administration Institute of Geophysics, China Earthquake Administration, deputy secretary and other staff. May 2004 served as Dean of the school of earth and Space Sciences University of Science & Technology China.

Since 1992 IASPEI earthquake prediction and earthquake disaster committee chairman, International Seismological Center (ISC) executive director. In 1993 Chinese elected academician of Academy of sciences. In 2000 was elected as the Third World Academy of sciences. In 1998 by the HLHL science and technology award. The current deputy director of China geophysical society, deputy director of the Seismological Society of China.

In 2016, a full-time professor in the school of Earth Sciences and engineering Nanjing University.At the same time is the national disaster prevention and mitigation committee experts.
